Special Brunel Jury Prize for Excellence in Corporate Design

The Jury will award a special Brunel Jury Prize for Excellence in Corporate Design to a railway company or organisation that exhibits a strong commitment to design excellence across several areas of their business activities as evidenced by their submission to the Brunel Awards competition.

assessment criteria:

The jury’s main focus will be the extent to which a project or product will support a favourable perception of the railway system. The fundamental criterion will be the role that the project in question plays or might play in enhancing the attractiveness of the rail system, and/or in increasing the satisfaction of the railway’s customers.

The jury will base its judgement on four main criteria that the submitted project has to fulfil:

Customer attractivity   shown through specific focus on accessibility, functionality and intermodality as well as through ease, pleasure and comfort of use
Aesthetic quality   giving an emblematic even brand value to the work through visual appeal, conceptual clarity, structural integrity, choice of forms, colours and materials
Sustainability   including durability in construction and design, respect for values of heritage, integration of possibilities for upgrading or extension, low or easy maintenance, energy efficiency and environmental integration.
Economic efficiency   in the context of limited ressources, giving particular attention to reducing costs while maximizing customer benefits

The competitor will explain explicitly in his entry, through an appropriate written or graphic statement, how the project responds to these four criteria and why the work should deserve an award in this regard.
